Well, I checked the portsentry and snort activity… it would appear that people are constantly getting themselves added to my /etc/hosts.deny file. It is amazing that there are so many people just constantly looking for something to get into. Hope they don’t manage to actually get into my server. If you are one of those people (I doubt anyone really reads my page… but who knows), I setup a cron job to clear out all the bannings once a day. I wouldn’t want any legitimate users to get blocked! I think it is pretty sensitive to. I accidentally got myself blocked when I was running some portscans to test it. Of course, 2 or 3 days later I had forgotten doing it and couldn’t figure out why FTP and WWW were not working for me!
