I have setup a gallery mirror on a much faster connection than my cable modem. There is an hourly cron job that uses rsync to keep the two directories p to date on both servers. Gallery checks one file on the mirror server to make sure its pictures are up to date, then should use it to display most pictures. It should result in faster picture loads, especially if there is more than one person browsing at the same time (yeah, right like that actually happens). The only little thing I need to work out is to stop it from sending ME to the mirror, since I am local to the server it would be much faster for me to get them from the main server. Just gotta play with the code a little :)
