On Monday, Mary Ann and I visited the Georgia Aquarium. The brand new, best in the world aquarium with something like 8 million gallons of water. I had read about it on howstuffworks.com and had been putting off going to avoid the crowds. We’d hoped that on a Monday, in the middle of the day, on a school day… it wouldn’t be that crowded. I’ve never been when it was crowded, so I’m not sure how what we saw compares.
Everytime I go out in public where there are more than about a movie theater’s worth of people around, I am disappointed. I don’t like crowds, but it isn’t because I’m scared or anything… they just always make me want to hurt certain types of people. I bet you are thinking something like “yeah, damn all those annoying kids!” but that isn’t it either! Kids have an excuse to be silly, crazy and/or misbehave. They are kids! Most of the time, I’d be happy to go play with them. No, its the inconsiderate mob that bugs the shit out of me. People in the way, people that don’t realize they aren’t the only people in the world. Small groups with the same mentality. Yeah, its perfectly okay for you to just stop where ever you are and talk. No, thats fine. Stop right in the middle of the path where everyone has to walk, we’ll find a way around. It happens at Disney, Six Flags, Busch Gardens and I’ve now confirmed it at the Georgia Aquarium. I also have found that I dislike lines, but what can you do about that?
All in all, you know what the Aquarium really made me think about? Diving. Not very surprising, but it has all the benefits of the aquarium w/o the masses of people. Well, okay I might not see a penguin or otter while diving.
The technology though… I would really love to go back to the aquarium and take the behind the scenes tour I think I read about somewhere. Thats what I find interesting. Also, it might be awsome to dive in the tanks… but that’ll never happen.
What else? Not much, just uploaded a bunch of pictures. We’ve lost / missplaced our USB to camera cable, which turned out to be a $40 propriatary one. Bastards. So we got a 12 in 1 reader from Walmart for like $25. Stickin it to the man, hard.
