I got my cast off about 3 weeks ago and was given an aircast. They used a saw that vibrates and isn’t supposed to be able to cut skin. I don’t understand how it works, but they didn’t cut my leg off. They took some more X-Rays and I finally got to itch my leg. After wearing the aircast for only a few days, it irritated a small blister on my incision and it became infected. Eventually, I went on antibiotics for about 2 weeks and didn’t wear the aircast hardly at all. It is still currently a bit ugly, but it is much much better.
On Monday, I was given the go ahead to ditch the crutches and start walking around. I can’t run, and walking totally normally hurts a bit so I just walk slow and carefully. I am also scheduled to start physical therapy next Monday.
